In this piece I had to write a review about a film of my choice. I had to write to a target audience of someone looking for a brief summary and opinion on the reviewed film. My goal was to leave the reader with a positive outlook towards the reviewed piece and potentially make someone interested enough to watch it. My writing was influenced by my goal, which was to persuade readers that the series is worth watching. This caused me to use different writing strategies in order to fully get my point across. I wrote at my audience trying to tap into their emotions to make them feel motivated to spend their time learning about what a unique story is told. I can apply these persuasion techniques to make people feel a certain way about a topic I am writing about. This was an important assignment because I really had to analyze and look deeply into the content, which will help me filter information in the future.
This is an annotated bibliography I wrote about the politics in Black Panther. My target audience was anyone looking for a deeper dive into the corruption in this film. I used outside sources to use factual information in my writing and used this as credibility in my writing. The goal of this piece was for my audience to walk away understanding that there was a deeper problem in the film outside the main antagonist. I used a nonbiased writing technique in order for my audience to get a more complete picture of the issue rather than adding an opinion in. I can use these skills in the future by using credible outside sources to add information to my writing. I can use the unbiased writing skill to let my audience come to their own conclusions about the topic I'm writing about and form their own opinions. This is significant because I had to learn how to effectively utilize outside sources, which is a skill that will always be needed.
This is a petition proposal I made about extending restaurants hours at Westfield State. My target audience was students at Westfield State who wanted to have extended on campus hours. The goal of this was to persuade my target audience to sign a petition in order to voice a wanted change. I used persuasive techniques to make my audience want to sign this petition and use their voice to make other people act. I wanted people to feel connected to the issue so that this idea of extending hours will motivate a signature on our petition. I can use these skills in future writing by connecting my audience to the issue at hand to motivate them to act off their emotions. What stuck out the most after this assignment was completed was the power emotion can have on a reader, and that is something to keep in mind while writing.
In this assignment I had to self-reflect on the proposal project I had done. My audience was myself as it was a reflection based off my own performance. My goal was to honestly answer the questions in order to look back at them and evaluate my overall group performance. I used logical thinking skills in order to complete this assignment along with genuine honesty in order to grow from my reflection. I can use this strategy in the future my always evaluating myself after group projects to make sure I'm performing as I should be. The importance of reflection was shown to me after completing this because I had a clear vision of how I did on the assignment and where I can potentially increase performance. This skill is incredibly important for self-growth.
In this I had to brainstorm ideas for my project proposal. My audience was myself and my group members, as the information is all important and I needed to get on the same page as my group. The goal of this was to refine an idea and then use the skeleton created to start up our proposal in a formal way. I used critical thinking skills in order to come up with an idea and discover who my audience would be and the issue I want to be heard. I can apply this in the future by always taking the time to brainstorm so I can perfect an idea before acting on it to make my final product better than what it could have been. The importance of brainstorming was shown to me through this assignment. I learned that it is much easier to map out an idea after thinking the whole thing through first to prevent any holes or flaws.
In this assignment I had to grade my teammates on their overall and specific group performance. My audience was my group members as I was giving them feedback on their performance with a number grade. The goal of this was to give my teammates an honest reflection of how I thought they performed and contributed to the group. I used an unbiased thinking strategy to make this, because I wanted to give honest feedback to the people, I had completed the project with. I can use this skill in the future by telling the people I worked with how they performed and where they may have not performed well. This taught me that working effectively and fairly in a group has a very positive effect and that it is always important to stay motivated and work as a team.

In this I had to write what stood out in an article about engaging your audience. My audience for this response was myself because it allows me to gain deeper insight on the information that stuck with me the most. My goal was to pick out the most valuable information and record it so I can apply it in future writing. I also used the insight I gained from the article to learn how I could apply the technique myself. I used analyzation skills by picking out the most valuable information and what I would benefit the most from, rather than something less important to myself. I can use this skill in the future by always taking the most important parts of an educational or factual piece and recording it for future benefit. I also learned that you must work hard to identify the ideal audience and that taking a quick stop to think can always be benificial.
